ECG
An ECG is a simple test that measures the natural electrical activity of your heart at rest. The test is conducted while you lay comfortably on your back with lead wires attached to specific areas of your chest and torso. As the natural electrical impulse of your heart spreads through its chambers, it causes muscle fibres to contract creating the pumping action. The lead wires of the ECG pick up the electrical signal at various points along the way.
Please follow these instructions the day of your ECG :
- Do not wear any oils, powders or lotions on your upper body.
- Eat well and stay hydrated.
- Get plenty of rest the night before.
- Bring a list of your medications with you.
How long will the appointment last ?
It usually takes between 15 minutes for the ECG to be completed. The duration will depend on what specifically is being investigated in your case.
